Species profiles combine standardized life-history fields with taxonomic context and, where available, supporting natural-history text. The Animal Life Explorer provides side-by-side trait comparisons, animal-group pages organize profiles by class, and the maximum-longevity ranking provides a separate view of longest recorded ages.

How the data are handled

SpeciesTraits uses structured source records and keeps missing measurements missing rather than filling gaps with invented values. Comparable fields are standardized for display while preserving the distinction between different biological measurements.

Maximum longevity is treated as a longest recorded value. It is not presented as average lifespan, median lifespan, or life expectancy unless a separate source specifically provides one of those measures.
